Happy New Year!!

I hope everyone had a great Christmas and a good start to the New Year.

The Prideaux's, I must say, had a FANTASTIC Christmas.  We took a cruise!!  It was our first one and all 4 of us went.  We left out of Tampa and then cruised for 8 days!!!  We went to Cozumel, Belize, Honduras, Guatemala and Costa Maya.  It was so nice to be away from news, drama and tweets from certain individuals.
In Cozumel

In other news, 2016 was a very good year for us.  We are truly, truly blessed.

Our business has become more successful and it on track to do great things.  We are still leasing, which is the biggest part of our business.  We have a five year goal in mind and we hope to meet and make that goal.

Noelle continues her studies at Northwest Missouri State, in Maryville, Missouri.  She is a member of a sorority that Sean and I refer to as "the cult".  She loves it there and has made many friends.  Noelle has also possibly found "the one"  His name is Matt and we love him.  He fits right in with us.
Noelle & Matt
They have been together for over a year and he moved to Maryville to be with her.  They have signed a lease for an apartment that they will be able to move in to in June.  This will allow Noelle to take Chloe with her.  In addition to taking classes, she is working at daycare that is run by the hospital.  Matt works in banking.

Michael graduated 😢.  How time went by that fast, I'm not quite sure.  It seems like I was just taking him to preschool.
With Michael at graduation.

Michael is currently working at the shop and is deciding about what he really wants to do as far as college.  He continues to play guitar and I could listen to him play all day.  He has written several songs.  He's just so talented when it comes to that, but maybe I'm bias.

Michael had lost sweet Sadie Sue in December 2015 and decided September he was ready to get a new puppy.  He picked out a super cute husky/lab not sure what else puppy 2 1/2 hours away.  Michael named him Harvey after Harvey Dent, who becomes 2-face on Batman.  Why?  Well Handsome Harvey has two different colored eyes, one ear that is straight up and one that flops.

I probably had the biggest, and best, change this year.  Our family doctor who had retired, failed retirement so I went back to nursing!!  I love, love, LOVE my job and the doctor I work for.  We closed on Thursdays and open the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of the month.
Me at work on election day.
This year I was also in a beauty pageant.  Yes, you read that right.  It's something I had always thought would be fun, a friend asked if I would do it so I thought, "well, why not".  While I didn't come home with the crown, I did win "Overall Outfit's of Choice".
Before practice
It was in Atlanta.  It was the first time I've been there.  Beautiful city.  The woman I shared my room with was named Tyleen and SHE took home the ultimate title.

With my roommate.
I'm planning on taking part again this year.  I actually do have a title.  I am Ms. Missouri Woman U.S. United.
Right before final walk.

With the shop doing so well, Sean has been able to cut back on some of his hours and some stress.  However, we had a freakish hail storm come through so that has kept him busier than he has been.

This year, I really do promise to try and do much better and blog much more in 2017.

Can We Start Over??

It's only the middle of March, and I'm ready to either restart 2015 or move on to 2016!

For the 3rd year in a row, the Prideaux family has managed to meet their insurance deductible, however, this is the earliest ever.

I still have physical therapy, now 3 times a week due to falls and rotator cuff repair   .  I have a neurology appointment Wednesday afternoon.  I have a feeling I will then be sent to an Ear Nose & Throat doctor.  After many ear ruptures, tubes and sinus infections, I have a feeling my balance issues are related to those things.

Michael went to Children's Mercy ER February 5.  He's been having spells that they aren't sure of and since our doctor had been trying to get him in since December 28, she suggested the next time he had one to take him to the ER so he could be seen sooner for an EEG.  He had an appointment with a neurologist March 3 and they spent about 45 minutes with him.

Feeling frustrated, when I had my doctor appointment on March 4, I explained my frustration and she said she would see what she could do, but since Michael is a minor, there may not be much.  She was able to get him in to see Dr. Vernon Rowe, one of only about two who will see minors.  His appointment was March 10 and he spent about 2 hours asking Michael questions and really listening to what he was experiencing.  After his appointment, he had blood work done.

March 10, Michael had an EMG in the morning and an EEG in the afternoon.  Thursday he had an MRI of the head and neck.  We will have ALL of the results March 16.  Can you believe that?!?!?  He has not driven since his ER appointment.  We are hoping that he is cleared to drive on Tuesday.  He is scheduled for a sleep study on March 18 because the doctor feels that it could be a sleep related issue because he sleeps on his stomach, (he has since he was an infant,he WOULD NOT sleep on his back) and he has a narrow opening in his throat.

Needless to say, Tuesday can't get here soon enough.

Here is Michael wired up for his EEG.  Mom said he looked like someone getting a perm in the 1940's.

Oscar Update!!

Ok, I only have two, count 'em, TWO movies left to see.

Amy and I saw "Whiplash" on our "Sister Weekend".  Two words: holy crap!  It was very intense and during an important point, we both yelled loudly in our hotel room.  I can see why it's up for best picture.

Sean caved and watched "The Grand Budapest Hotel".  One word: eh.  It was, well, a Wes Anderson movie.  I've liked his stuff before, maybe I just wasn't in the mindset.  However, after this one, I have a feeling Sean will no longer cave, although he DID say; "at least it was better than District 9".  (there's hope for next years film that will probably be a crap shoot)

Dad and I went and saw "The Imitation Game".  One word: speechless.  There were so many emotions running through me.  Everyone and I mean EVERYONE should see this movie.

I'm still FLOORED that "Unbroken" was not up for best picture.  In my opinion, it should be in instead of "The Grand Budapest"

Tonight, I will be spending the night at my parents and will pay them $12.99 to see "Birdman".  That will only leave "Selma".  I'm not sure if I'll get that one in or not.  I'm going to do my best because it really DOES make it fun to watch the show if you've seen them.

So that being said, for me, it's a tie between "American Sniper" and "The Imitation Game".  It would be very hard for me to pick between these two.

I guess we'll all know the answer this Sunday.

Doctors, PT, MRI Oh My...

I have come to realize that I have spent more than my fair share of time over the last 1 1/2 years spending time at doctors offices and other such places.

This realization came to me this morning during my PT.  Gina, the lovely receptionist who ALWAYS makes sure there's a Keurig Chai Latte for me, made this statement:

"Hey Erin, isn't it almost time for your Oscar thing with your sister?"

For the last how ever many years, Amy and I park our butts in her basement.  Her super fantastic wonderful husband, Jon, (let me just say no one and I mean NO ONE, has a better brother in law than me) makes sure that the Red Carpet show is taping so we can watch the arrivals and sets it up to tape the Oscars so we can fast forward through commercials.

Amy and I then decide what Chinese food we want to order.  We then put on our pajamas and don tiara's while Jon, (did I not JUST tell you he's the best) goes and picks up our food!!!

Anyway, back to the story...

Gina remembered from last year that Amy and I did this.

Here's a photo from last year:

I have now been at PT through two Thanksgiving's, two Christmas', two New Year's, two Valentine's and soon to be two Oscar seasons.  Not to mention meeting new people and one of the therapists having a baby.

On the MRI front, I've had a couple lately.  I've fallen three times since December, so I had one done to check to see if I had a pinched nerve and one to double check my shoulder, because lets face it, when you fall, it's always best to fall on the side you just had rotator cuff surgery on.

Luckily, there was nothing to report.  They're thinking it's possibly an inner ear/sinus thing.  Turns out that between both ears, having them rupture five times on their own and tubes twice, it can throw things off as you get older~oh joy!!!

So now, I go to PT three days a week.  Twice for my shoulder and once for my balance.  I swear, especially after the new exercise I started today, most people there would spill any and all secrets!
