"The Beast" Still Not Home.

The Beast, otherwise known as the TA was going to come home this week. Once we got rid of all the unsellable items, the garage was ready.

Sean and I went to pick it up and bring it home. At a stop sign, Sean had done a rather large, smoking "burn off". (some men just never get past the age of 16 when in a fast car) Once the smoke cleared, we headed for the highway.

As Sean was driving, an a/c hose blew. We are on the side of the road, freon blowing everywhere and Sean is on the phone with Eric, they guy who had fixed the brakes and other things to let him know what happened and that it will be at Sean's dads house when the parts come in. As he is talking to Eric, Sean's dad calls and says "The police were just here looking for the person who did that burn off". At that moment, two motorcycle police men pull up.

Now, I had no idea that Sean was on the phone with his dad. My first thought was that someone had called about the burn off. Then I started to think of other reasons to panic about our situation. The Beast is in no way street legal at this time. It has pretty much been gutted and has only the driver seat and various parts inside. There aren't even door handles or mirrors on the outside. I was following Sean in his work van. The van was full of the remaining parts for the car...and Sean's shotgun, unloaded. His dad had borrowed it and was giving it back. So you can see why I freaking out just a little bit.

The cops asked if we needed any help. We said we only had to go about a mile or so and would be fine and thanks for stopping. They then asked if we knew each other. I paused and said "oh, he's my husband".

I wonder what would have happened if I said, "I just stopped because the car looked so cool."?
