While I was there, I got to spend a lot of time with my aunt Julie who is also a nurse. It was wonderful. I could speak "normally" and not have to explaine what things were. (in his defense, Sean is picking up the nursing language pretty well)
Anyhoo, Julie and I were riding in the van with my parents to an outlet mall when this conversation took place:
- Me: "I got to work with my first rectal tube this past week"
- Julie: "Really, it's been a while since I have"
- Mom: "Rectal tubes, I don't even want to think about that"
- Me: "For some reason, we have had a lot of those lately"
- Mom: "Oh, I don't want to hear anymore"
- Julie: "What kind of things do you have on the floor where you work"
- Me: "A variety of things, we have a lot of vents. They're not too bad, but I just can't stand sputum."
- Julie: "Yeah"
- Me: "It's funny, but I would rather clean poop all day than suction people and obtain sputum samples."
- Mom to my dad: "Steven, make them stop"
Some people are just so squeamish.
