Well, the kids and I made it to Indiana! We got here around 10:45 pm or so. (mom and dad let me borrow their lap top to study, but as a bonus, I get to blog as well.)
I had wanted to leave around 8 am. We hit the road at 10:20. We stopped to eat a picnic lunch, fill the car and a couple of pit stops.
The kids got along GREAT and really didn't fight. It helped that Noelle was in the front and Michael was in the back.
Noelle, having become the seasoned traveler slept most of the time. I'm pretty sure she almost finished a book she started when we backed out of the driveway.
Michael read a little but watched movies mainly. Michael was VERY upset to realize that we were leaving on Father's Day and freaked out. He called Sean twice before we even made it to the gas station. He did better as the day went on, but about 15 miles before the exit to Merlin and Lori's, Michael had a full blown panic attack. I have to admit, it freaked me out. I couldn't calm him down! He kept saying "I miss daddy" over and over again. Then he would yell "DADDY" with this total look of fear on his face. I had to pull over on the side of the road, get him out in the fresh air and help get his breathing under control.
I have only seen him like this, (only not as bad) in the weeks after he had his seizure. When that was going on, we got him some medication to help with panic attacks. I'm going to find the closest Wal*Mart pharmacy around here and have our doctor call in a prescription.
I feel so bad, he has been looking forward to coming for so long. He cheered up a little when we got here and started playing with the other kids. Then, after while, I could tell it was starting again. I tried the "do you want to go swimming with the other kids?", "do you want to help finish this puzzle?", "do you want the boys to show you the songs they know on guitar and you can show them what you know?".
No such luck. I knew we were beyond just talking calmly and deep breathing when he didn't want to do anything on guitar.
So now, instead of sleeping in the boys room, Michael is sharing a bed with me in the girls "dorm". Noelle and Rachel are sleeping in Rachel's room.
First thing in the morning, Sean's job will be to get a hold of the doctor and get something called in ASAP. We'll see what tomorrow brings.
