The Barking Cough & Other Stuff

It does not want to leave our house!

Noelle, who hates to miss school, came home sick the Thursday I was heading home from Haiti. She stayed home Friday as well. The kids didn't have school on Monday. I took her to the doctor on Tuesday. She went back to school Wednesday and Thursday. Friday she was home sick again.

Noelle got a part in the school play. We are so happy and excited for her. They are doing "Tin Pan Alli". She has to stay after school until 5 pretty much every day. This is the first time she will not be a part of the "make-up crew".

Michael got an early birthday present. A huge amp, two electric guitars and some peddles. A neighbor had them and had no use for them. Sean got wind of it and the next thing you know, they are at our house. This brings the amp total to three and the guitar total to five. The nice thing about the amp is that two guitars can be plugged in together. So, Michael's dream of a band is one step closer.

Things continue to go well at the shop. Car sales have been successful and the article that was in the paper has brought in some business as well.

I started doing some private duty nursing for a eight year old whose family lives about 20 minutes from us. It's not too bad. The hard part is staying awake! I sit in his room with him from 9pm-7am. They do have a TV in his room, so that is nice. He requires several different things throughout the night, but still, when there is no one to talk to or others to take care of, the hands move slowly on the clock.

Tomorrow night is Oscar night and I can't wait. I'll be watching it with Amy at her house. I think I'll print off some ballots and see how close I am. I've only seen one of the movies, so I guess it's a good thing I don't have any money on anything.

On The Road Again

Well, dad and I will hit the road Monday after I take Michael to school. We are headed to South Dakota.

The realization is that gramma will not be able to go back home. I'm going to help gramma go through some of her things. Amy picked up some special boxes that she will be able to have with her at the nursing home. I'll have a full two days to go through things with her. I hope we can make a big dent in what she has. I know this will not be easy, but I'm praying that God will help it go well and that I can have a compassionate heart while helping her decide what to keep and what to possibly give away.

I'll have the easy job as at this same time, dad will have to tell Ronnie that he will have to move to a different apartment. Right now, because he and gramma lived together, they had a two bedroom. There is a waiting list for a two bedroom and since it will only be Ronnie, he will have to move to a one bedroom.

Please pray that all goes smoothly for us.

Back Again

Once again, I'm overwhelmed by how God has touched me.

This trip to Haiti was different than the last one. I went with a girl named Arissa, who I know gladly call my friend. She has sent shoes to the kids at HIS Home For Children for four years.

We left on Saturday, spent the night in the Fort Lauderdale airport and got to Haiti Sunday. The first thing we did was go to the orphanage. The kids were so excited to get shoes. I had brought a suitcase filled with baby dolls, jump ropes, stickers, bubbles and various other things. When I opened the suitcase, it was kind of a mob scene.

We stayed at a place in Port-Au-Prince that had two armed guards. The last time I was in Haiti, they had just had riots. This time, people were in the process of protesting for elections they are having in August. We felt safe the whole time we were there.

We spent on day at the ocean. We traveled in an 18 passenger van that ended up transporting 15 adults and 13 children.

I can't wait to go back again.

Haiti, Haiti, Here I Come

I'm off to Haiti tomorrow night. I'll be getting back about 11:30 pm on Thursday.

Sean, the kids and I went to the $1 store and bought a ton of stuff for the orphans. Along with the things that I got, 123 kids will be getting new shoes. One of the people going, Arissa, has a 10 year old daughter who raises money so that "orphans have shoes".

I'll miss Sean and the kids, but I can't wait to experience this. Arissa has never gone on a trip like this before. I'm hoping that she will be able to process everything. I told her she should journal when she feels overwhelmed. It will definitely be something she will never forget.

Today was a beyond busy day at the shop today. We sold two cars!! While we were selling the first one, someone came by for an estimate on a dent. When we were selling the second one, estimate guy came back to have it fixed! The phone rang off the hook in the middle of it all. It's good, but scary all at the same time. We sold a car on Monday as well, so that puts us three cars for this week and seven so far this year!

Praise God for all he is doing for us.
