Here are just a few of the jems from the mouths of the boys:
- Jack: "You can drive my mommy's car Ewin, not my daddy's." (I wonder what that's supposed to mean)
- Riley: "We're gonna a kick it." (referring to playing with Michael's soccer ball, not actually "kickin' it")
- Jack: "Oh, I gotta poop." (he announces this as he's running up the stairs from the basement)
- Riley: "I gotta poop too Ewin." (I'm happy at the thought this might happen)
- Riley: "There's no poop in my butt." (amazed because I just saw him eat dinner)
- Jack: "You have to turn the water on to take a baf Ewin." (again, wondering what the boy has heard about me)
- Riley: "No Ewin, you wash with the duck on your hand, not just your hand." (he looks up at me with his huge blue eyes like I know nothing)
- Jack: "I burped in the car." (information offered after Noelle and I burped)
We had so much fun with the boys. I had forgotten just how slow a three year old moves, not to mention two! It's funny how as your kids grow, you adapt to the speed they go.
After playing outside at the daycare and then at the park, Michael and I gave the boys a bath. They were so funny! First off, they kept saying "chin up". I had no idea what the heck they were saying. I would repeat what I thought they said and would be met by a unanimous, "no CHIN up". I had no idea what they were saying until Amy got home and told me.
Part of what was funny was that they each wanted to rinse off the other's hair. One would say "ready" the other would say "yes" and the one pouring the water would attempt the pour the water over the other one. This never worked as they ended up pouring the water on themselves.
They also pulled a fast one. (ok, not really, they are only three after all) When the boys were in the tub entertaining Michael with their attempts of water pouring, I went to their room to get their jammies. I went back in to the bathroom and asked if they wore "big boy pants" to bed. They both said yes and looked at me like "of course we do". Since it has been a while since bed wetting has happened here, I fell for it and put both of them in big boy pants.
Luckily, I thought to tell Amy when they got home and she was able to put the boys in pull ups.
I guess it's a good thing I didn't ask if they are allowed to play with fire.
