Count Down To The Oscars!!!

It's almost that time again, the time when my lovely, beautiful, pregnant sister and I park our butts on her couch and watch THE awards show.

Last year, I realized I had only seen maybe two of the movies nominated. This year, I decided to see all of them. Of course, this year they decide to have 10 best pictures up for the main award.

As of today, I've seen half of them. I have kids, of course I've seen "Up". Very cute movie, but as with all Disney movies, there has to be some sad aspect of the movie. (what's up with that anyway?)

Noelle and I saw "The Blind Side". I found this movie to be very uplifting with a wonderful message given what goes on in the world around us. It shows, in my opinion, what can happen when someone takes a chance and believes in someone else.

I've seen "Avatar" twice. I normally don't like "sci-fi" type movies, but I have to say I do really like this one. I have a feeling this is not a movie my mom would like, but my dad would. So that said, I'm ready to see it again, what night works for you dad?

This weekend Sean and I rented two more that are up for the big award.

Saturday, we watched "District 9". I have to ask, why is this movie nominated? Maybe it goes with my "I normally don't like 'sci-fi" movies" statement. That said, I'm glad I only paid $1 to rent this from the Redbox.

Sunday, we watched "The Hurt Locker". I was really moved by this movie. I think this is a story that needed to be told. This story made me think of firefighters, police, and honestly, medical personal, who, without thinking twice, run into a situation to see what they can do to help. I really liked this movie.

I only have five more to see; "Inglourious Basterds", (which for some reason, I kept calling "Ingenious Basterds"), "Precious", "Up In The Air", "An Education", and "A Serious Man". I have NO idea what the last two are about. I have wanted to see "Inglourious Basterds" and "Up In The Air". I really didn't want to see "Precious" only because I don't like movies where people are torn down so much.

It will be hard to see these last five given the fact the Olympics are on. Thank heavens for DVR!!
