The kids and I spent time at mom and dad's on Saturday. Noelle, Amy, mom and I worked on making cookies and Michael helped dad hang Christmas lights. Of course, the cookies we brought home are gone for the most part.
Amy brought the boys and when it was time for them to lay down for "a rest" I laid down with them while Noelle, Amy and mom did some shopping. Let me just say, "holy crap"!! If you think reading a story to Jack is hard, try watching a movie with him.
When reading a story, he wants to know everything from "what is the horse's name" to "why is that rock there". I can usually prepare myself for such questions by glancing at each page quickly to have a fast answer if needed: "his name is Fred", "Fred wanted the rock to be there".
In a movie, the scene changes so quickly that there is just no way to think that fast, I don't care who you are. We were watching "Scooby Doo Meets The Boo Brothers". I found myself answer unasked questions in anticipation of ones that might come: "He likes cheese", "Yes, they keep running past the same tree", "I don't know if they go to the bathroom" etc.
By the time the movie was over I needed "a rest".
Later that night, Sean, the kids and I spent some time with the Phillips' family. We hadn't seen them in a couple of years and it was nice to catch up. We played "Rock Band". Sean and I have never played it before. Talk about something that wears you out! Sean and I were on the "easy" level and still stunk.
After playing that game, a couple of thoughts came to mind. First, I never realized just how long some songs are. Second, how are these bands able come up with this stuff? Third, how are some bands able to remember what they came up with during a drunk/drug induced stuper? Last, do they ever wonder "man what was I thinking when I wrote this, oh yeah, I was in a stuper I guess I'll never know".
